JUNIOR HIKERSOur Junior Hiker trips are designed to inspire young adventurers to connect with nature, build resilience, and develop a love for the outdoors. Your child will experience a unique blend of education, physical activity, and environmental stewardship through these guided hiking trips.Junior Hikers will explore local trails, learn about wildlife and plant life, and gain essential outdoor skills such as map reading, navigation, and Leave No Trace principles. Whether your child is a seasoned hiker or a first-timer, our experienced guides ensure a safe and supportive environment for all skill levels. In addition to hiking, the program emphasizes teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving through group challenges and fun activities. By the end of the summer, hikers will have not only gained physical fitness and outdoor knowledge but also a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Join us for an unforgettable journey through the great outdoors, where adventure and learning go hand in hand!NT RESIDENTS ONLYAges 6 - 18$150 per child (Sibling discount available)Included in the Junior Hikers fee: - 1 year Junior Hiker membership - 4 guided summer hikes to some of WNY's loveliest trails - Hiking pack the kids will use for their hikes - Hiking first aid kit for their packs - Junior Hiker membership patch - Bus ride to and from the hiking trails - Snacks for the bus - Trail Snacks - LunchIf you cannot make every trip, you can opt to join us for the ones you can. First, You will join Junior Hikers as an official member (1 time membership fee which is good for 1 calendar year). Yes, this will include trips planned for the fall, winter and the spring.Then you will pay for each trip separately.Cost: - Junior Hiker membership - $40 - Hiking Trips - $30 per hikeAll Junior Hikers members will receive: - Intro to Hiking presentation Monday, June 29, at 6 PM at the Norman Keller Building (500 Wheatfield St). During this meeting, we will go over some basics about trail hiking, including how to read a trail map, trail safety, "Leave no Trace" policies, how to read trail blazes, clothing preparedness, and more. Gross Out Camp  Monday, July 27 -  Friday, July 31For kids entering 1st - 4th grades 9 AM to 4 PM * @ Mayor's Park (Monday - Thursday) RESIDENTS: $250 per child ($25 discount for each additional sibling) NON-RESIDENTS: $325 per child ($25 discount for each additional sibling) Limited Space Available, registration closes July 20th Camp Shirt, daily snack, and lunch provided  * On Friday, July 31, we will take ALL CAMPERS on a day hike to Gulf Wilderness Park, Lockport. The bus will leave from 500 Wheatfield St. (our NT Parks & Rec office) at 9:30 AM and return just after 2:00 PM Gross Out Camp: A Summer Adventure! Are you ready for the messiest, most fun summer ever? At Gross Out Camp, kids entering grades 1st - 4th will dive into an exciting outdoor adventure filled with learning, laughter, and lots of gooey fun! What to Expect: Bug Exploration: Get ready to search for creepy crawlies! We’ll hunt for bugs and learn all about their incredible roles in nature. Nature Discovery: Explore trees and plants as we uncover the secrets of the great outdoors. Each day brings new discoveries! Fishing Fun: Try your hand at fishing! Learn about our local waterways and the critters that call them home. Conservation Heroes: Discover how trash affects our environment and what we can do to help. Kids will learn the importance of taking care of our planet! Games & Crafts: From messy games to creative arts and crafts, there’s never a dull moment!
