Mission:
Our mission is to inspire young minds to explore the wonders of nature through gardening. We aim to foster creativity, responsibility, and teamwork by teaching children how to grow plants, care for the environment, and develop a deeper connection with the natural world. Together, we will nurture not only gardens but also the values of sustainability, patience, and the joy of learning.
Informational Meeting:
Thursday, May 15
500 Wheatfield St
6:30 PM
FREE TO NT RESIDENTS
At this meeting we will provide an introduction to this newest endeavor from the NT Rec Dept. Children, parents and caregivers, and educators are all welcome to attend.
An example of Grow Getter projects that we have coming up are:
- May 31 - Raised garden beds made from old tires
- June 14 - Making worm bins for composting
- June 28 - Using pallets to make potting tables
- Ongoing - An off-grid dog wash station
- and so much more...
All projects will emphasis the reuse of discarded materials, conservation and sustainability.
Our goal is to make this into a community wide program that will assist in enhancing the environmental health of our city.
Membership is free for all NT residents and we will be welcoming all to join us; children, parents and caregivers; and educators alike.
Here are the work days we have scheduled so far. We will meet every other Saturday throughout the summer to work on establishing our Grow Getter Garden which will be located on the grounds of Norman Keller Building, at 500 Wheatfield St.
